The 5 Top Travel & Hospitality Recruitment Trends for 2025*

Writing this blog post whilst virtually shaking the industry into actually making some of these 'trends' a reality is my version of screaming into the luxury travel + hospitality recruitment abyss. I figured instead of highlighting the many issues with recruitment (and retention) in our sector right now, this puts a more positive spin on things, so here goes!

The luxury travel and hospitality sector is one of the most dynamic industries, constantly evolving to meet the desires and expectations of high-end clientele. As we step into 2025, recruitment within this sector is becoming more competitive and complex, driven by new technology, changing consumer behavior, and evolving workplace demands. Whether you’re a recruitment professional or an industry leader, it’s crucial to stay ahead of these trends to attract and retain the best talent, which i'm afraid the industry as a whole isn't doing right now.

Here are the top 5 recruitment trends for luxury travel and hospitality in 2025*:

1. The Rise of Hybrid & Remote Work Opportunities

The pandemic accelerated remote work, and in 2025, it’s clear that flexibility is no longer just a trend—it’s an expectation. Luxury travel and hospitality brands are increasingly offering hybrid or fully remote roles*, especially for positions like marketing, sales, and customer support. While in-person presence remains vital for front-facing roles like concierge or hotel staff, back-office functions are seeing a shift towards greater flexibility.

Millennials are increasingly moving away from big cities like London and unsubscribing from the lifestyle + demands, confident they can bring their years of experience to the remote table. Luxury brands are tapping into a global talent pool, allowing them to hire the best professionals regardless of location. As a result, recruitment is focusing on individuals who not only excel in their specific roles but also have the ability to thrive in a flexible, often digitally connected, work environment.

Reality: we're seeing so many companies go back to the office / demand a office heavy hybrid model. On the whole the best candidates are not willing to do this and this will affect your ability to get access to them.

2. Focus on Digital & Tech-Savvy Talent

Luxury travel is increasingly powered by cutting-edge technology. From AI-driven concierge services to virtual reality hotel tours and the use of big data to personalise experiences, the demand for tech-savvy professionals is surging. Recruiters are on the lookout for talent with expertise in data science, digital marketing, user experience (UX) design, and AI/automation to work accross newly created roles.

Travel companies are investing heavily in digital transformations to streamline operations and enhance the guest experience. As a result, candidates with a strong understanding of how tech can improve both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction are in high demand. These roles are pretty new to the industry and we're seeing charismatic tech savvy candidates be more and more of interest to our tech savvy clients but still lots of hesitation to bring in people from other industries from travel hiring managers.

3. Emphasis on Sustainable & Responsible Travel Expertise

Sustainability is a cornerstone of luxury travel in 2025. More travelers are seeking experiences that are not only exceptional but also environmentally and socially responsible. In turn, luxury hospitality brands are prioritizing sustainability in both their offerings and their recruitment.

Recruiters are increasingly seeking candidates with expertise in sustainable tourism practices, responsible sourcing, eco-friendly design, and carbon footprint reduction. Companies are also looking for professionals who are passionate about aligning their roles with the growing demand for sustainability and who can drive these values through innovation and leadership.

4. Upskilling & Career Development Initiatives

As luxury travel and hospitality becomes more competitive, investing in employee development is more important than ever. Companies are shifting focus from hiring for traditional roles to nurturing internal talent through upskilling programs and career development pathways, as shown by awesome brands like Hyatt + Hilton.

Recruiters are increasingly looking for candidates with a growth mindset—professionals who are eager to learn and evolve within the company. Training in areas such as leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and advanced customer service is becoming a priority. Upskilling not only helps companies retain top talent but also enables employees to stay relevant in an ever-changing industry. But companies in the luxury travel space need to get SO much better at this in order to retain talent - we're losing senior talent in droves to other industries + the talent pool is shrinking daily because of luxury travels inability to do so.

5. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Initiatives

Diversity, equity, and inclusion have been ongoing focal points for the luxury travel and hospitality industry, but in 2025, they’re being elevated to new levels. Organizations are no longer just checking the boxes—they are embedding DEI into their corporate cultures. This includes actively seeking out diverse talent, promoting inclusivity in leadership, and ensuring fair opportunities for growth across all levels.

As travellers become more diverse, so too must the workforce that serves them. Recruiters are increasingly focusing on candidates who can bring diverse perspectives and experiences, ensuring that brands remain relevant and connected to an ever-evolving global customer base but employers must be better at actually hiring these candidates - luxury travel right now is going backwards with its diversity efforts and becoming ever more a closed door industry when it comes to ED&I and its hiring practices.

6. Focus on Wellbeing & Employee Experience

As luxury travel and hospitality brands continue to elevate guest experience, they are also focusing more on their employees’ experiences. The well-being of staff has become a crucial aspect of recruitment in 2025. High-quality employee wellness programs are becoming a standard offering to attract top talent, especially in a competitive market.

Recruiters are placing an increasing emphasis on finding candidates who value and contribute to a strong company culture, focusing on employee satisfaction, mental health initiatives, and work-life balance. Companies offering wellness benefits, including mental health support, stress management programs, and personal development opportunities, are more likely to attract the best candidates in 2025. This just simply isn't happening enough in luxury travel + hospitality right now + is a key reason why people are looking at other industries.

Conclusion

As the luxury travel and hospitality industry continues to rebound and transform in 2025, recruitment strategies must adapt to keep up with new consumer expectations and evolving industry demands. From sustainability to the integration of new technologies, the recruitment landscape for luxury brands will be shaped by these ongoing shifts.

Luxury travel and hospitality companies that understand and embrace these trends—sourcing diverse talent, promoting employee well-being, and leveraging the latest digital tools—will be the ones leading the charge in the future of luxury travel.
